1. Rusting of silicon steel sheets may cause short circuits between sheets. Short circuits between sheets due to rust increase the loss of the iron core and reduce the efficiency of the transformer.
2. Rusting of silicon steel sheets will cause increased losses. In the previous article, we introduced the hysteresis loss and eddy current loss in the iron loss of silicon steel sheets. Rusting will aggravate these two losses, especially eddy current loss. Because the induced current generated in the iron core increases, it increases heat and energy loss.
